Monday, August 30th

The first day of the Convention started out early for me.  I arrived at Madison Square Garden at 6:00am to be interviewed by different television and radio programs.  I’m so glad to be able to talk to the media about our Party and its efforts to work for what is best for our country. Click the picture to the left to see a video of a few of my interviews.

Later that day, I stopped by a luncheon for the Warriors Foundation at Cipriani Restaurant.  The Warriors Foundation is a wonderful group that provides scholarships for children who have lost a parent serving bravely in the Special Forces.  Today’s luncheon was in honor of my good friend, Rudy Giuliani.  Rudy worked tirelessly for the people of the New York City area in the wake of September 11th.  It was a real pleasure having lunch with such a great crowd supporting this honorable and worthwhile organization.

I made one more stop that afternoon to be part of a foreign policy panel put together by the International Republican Institute, a pro-democracy organization whose board of advisors I chair.  I am proud of the work that IRI has done all over the world helping countries transition to democracy, and was pleased to give remarks at their panel which focused on ways to best implement strategies for freedom across the globe.

Then, later that evening, it was back to Madison Square Garden where I had the honor of addressing the Convention.  Click here to read a copy of my remarks.  The Convention sure seems to be off to a great start!

Stay tuned for the latest installment from the Republican National Convention on Tuesday, August 31.
